My computer has 2 Gb of RAM, but whenever my CD drive is in use, I experience horrific lag on any other task I am performing. This is exceedingly annoying when playing PC games that require the CD to remain in the drive during play. Is there any way I can fix this problem?

It might be because of the CD ROM itself .. not the RAM ... or it could just be the OS ...

Was the drive a carry over from an older system if so could be running at 33 mhz instead of 100 so could be causing the slow down or if the drive is older is most liekly slower as well so that may be an issue. Thrid possibility is the ide cable is not firmly seated at back of drive or motherboard so not connecting well. Also possible the cd rom drive is going out

I don't think you have enough RAM if you are using windows vista 2 gigs is not enuf. Vista uses a lot of RAM. RAM equates to desktop space in the old office world. Not enuf RAM equates to not enough room for everything to operate in a timely fashion. Your system has to find parts of prgms then bring them together so they can operate. If you have a small workspace yes it's going to take a long time. Do a self-experiment with a small crowded tabletop. You hv2 think abt things +then maneuver =same with RAM & your computer. More space means faster access. CD's +games use a lot of RAM. You're on the right track.

First there is not any way you have 504MB of RAM. you have 512MB in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it incredibly is probable a working laptop or computer that makes use of device RAM to run the video which takes a number of the 512 away. you could no longer get 8MB so which you will possibly ought to characteristic yet another 512MB and finally end up with 1GB entire, much less in spite of the different appplication or video gadget is employing. probable much less complicated just to characteristic yet another 1GB stick, in case you have an available memory slot and not problem approximately it. you will come across the form of RAM you have by utilising going to HPs cyber web internet site and looking out up the specs, then you definately can pass online or to ultimate purchase and get the main appropriate memory for that device
