There is no such thing as "showing how CAD works".
Computer Assisted Design is a tool for engineers.
Think of an architect. In the past, the drawings of the houses were made by hand, on large sheets of paper, on large tables.
Now, the drawing is made on the screen: it is easy to change, copy, update and print.
Some CAD programs go further, such as Printed Circuit Boards designs: you design your PCB, then the program issues a set of files that can be directly used by CNC machines in the factory.
Others work in 3D modelling from which an item can be milled and machined afterwards.
You can have a go at looking at some samples on www.autodesk.com (AutoCAD).
