If you're referring to the "Free Ipod!" ads on the internet and their derivatives, apparently these are legitimate but none of it is really "free" because you must sign up for a service and convince several of your friends to sign up for it too.

The shelf life on this scheme is fairly well expired, so I don't think you'd have much luck getting others to sign up if you wanted to start now.

The old phlosopher once told his students TANSTAFL! He told his students to memorize the word. Whenever they heard of a free item, they were to say either to themselves or out loud TANSTAAFL.

He then challenged them to tell him what TANSTAAFL stood for as it was an acronym.

After a while a student determined it stood for "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch".

Supposedly this old philosopher's tale, with minor alterations for local culture and custom, goes back before acient Greece.

Having said that, do you believe you can get something for nothing or that there is a free lunch?

I hope you are wiser than that.
