-4.9t²+7t+1000 = 0

Multiply thru by -1

4.9t ²- 7t - 1000 = 0

Use the quadratic equation to solve
x = (-b ± √(b² - 4ac))/2a

x = (7 ± √(49 + 19600))/9.8

x ≈ -13.59, x ≈ 15.02

Probably the positive result you are seeking.

Use the quadratic formula:

x=(-b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac)) / 2a

t = -7 +/- sqrt(7^2 - 4(-4.9)(1000)) / 2(-4.9)
t = 15.018 or -13.589

If t stands for time, then the answer most likely is the positive result of 15.018.
