California is great . I live there. It is expensive to live but most jobs pay extra for the cost of living. I live in Redding where it is real cheap to live ( besides a home , $365,000 ) but the bay and LA is a lot more.

Moving for the sake of family closeness is very hard, but can be done. Depending on where your extended family lives try to search up to a 50 miles radius when looking for rental and/or purchasing property. Be flexible and open minded in your search. PLEASE TELL your family, that coming into California from out of state will be hard on your family and that you are making this sacrifice. Living in the state of California (both physically and mentally) is what you make of it and so long as your family doesn't give you a guilt trip, being no farther than 50 miles should satisfy any "we don't see you" lectures.
Good luck.

Live with the parents, or your going to live in an outside town. LA property is really expensive and it is more in the SF area. Husband better have a great job, or your family better have a lot of room.

Sounds like a bad idea based on what you said. Maybe you should save like crazy before you move, if you haven't done so already. Get on a strict savings plan. My suggestion, unless your family needs your physical presence (i.e. illness, disability), get a webcam to stay in touch.

I would say stay where you are. California living is crazy high, especially for housing. I would say for you to stay where you cause you are close to family in California, but don't move there.
