I know this sounds dumb but I never really stopped to think about how they take Mirena out? I mean I know how they insert it and what not but I never thought about how.....Ive had it for over a year now and I love it!! Yes, I have gained alittle weight but any birth control can and it has almost taken away all my periods......

Has anyone had it removed and how? I know its kinda uncomfortable when they put it in but does your skin grow back around it? That kinda creeps me out lol......Thank you again and I hope someone can be of help! :)

It can and often is removed. Usually a local anesthetic is injected in the area to numb it, a small incisision is made and the device removed. Stitches are not usually necessary, just keep the wound covered until healed.

The Mirena coil is the same as a standard coil exept it is impregnated with hormones to help with irregular and heavy periods.

They remove it by pulling on the removal cord.
