If a married girl living far away from parents and is hospitalized, her husband doesn’t want to tell her parents about her condition.
Now her birthday is approaching in 4-5 days. And doctors haven’t allowed her to talk and move, as she underwent a serious operation.
How to tackle this situation when her parents and friends call her on her day?
What are the excuses that can work effectively?
Plz suggest me.. this is a real situation.
Thanks.

If that was my child, You best tell me the truth... Or I will definitely have a negative relationship with you for the rest of your life! That parent brought her into this world and raised her... she deserves to know if her daughter has had a serious surgery... Shame on whomever is keeping this from her!
adding to your additional comments: Frustrated or not... I don't care where I am... you best tell me if my child is in the hospital and let me decide whether I can come and visit... Put yourself in their shoes and stop trying to think you are doing a nice thing!

While the truth is always best, and the family may have a right to know what's going on with their daughter, there are ways around the truth.
If you cannot tell them that she is in the hospital, then you can always say that the husband is taking her for the entire day, shutting off all phones and lights and spending the whole day in bed, something like that.... OR... That he's taking her away for a couple days and that they'd rather not be bothered.

You could tell them that she is out of town for business or that you gave her a trip out of town with some friends for a getaway.
But I am curious as to why you have not told any of them about the real situation. They are her family and they have a right to know. Do the right thing and tell them what is going on.

I think as soon as the problem was known the family should have been informed. Since this was not the case the best you can do is tell the family the reason you did not tell them was not to worry them. Good Luck

Her parents have a right to know the well-being of their daughter. Unless the husband's a psycho he needs to tell her family what's going on. No excuses!

why don't you say that her husband plan her a surprise get away and she didn't know that's why she wasn't able to tell anyone about it. and that that's why they are not around to talk and you will take messages. that's what i would say.

Ask for the hospital's patient advocate. They will help you contact your family. Or if your family has email, email them.
Happy Birthday.

Um, don't answer the phone, and figure it out when she can talk......I hope she is okay! This sounds shady.
