I am 28, my parents are wealthy and try to use their money and influence to control me.
I just want to live my simple middle class life.
I asked for $62,000 in $2,000 monthly installments so that I can maintain my lifestyle while I go to school and try to start my own business.
Am I being unreasonable, they can afford it. I haven't asked for anything since I graduated from Highschool and moved out of their house. I have been working for the past 10 years and going to school, I don't want them to take care of me I just want some help.

Your parents probably worked very hard to achieve their wealth and they want to share their success with you. What you asked for doesn't sound unreasonable and I wager they are offering more to you than that sum of money?

In such a case, just keep stressing to them that school and a business does not require more and that you greatly appreciate the offer of more money, but you have a goal that simply needs a boost and you can take it to the finish line.

Well I think you need to draw up a contract of some kind so there will be a agreement or find a business partner that will be willing to help you in starting this business , and if you do get this loan from your parents then look for them to be in control until the loan is payed for. Oh yeah it is OK to ask for help if you need that.

Yes. If you want independance, get a part time job to support your self. That's what the rest of the world does. You learn to be independant, and you learn responsibilities. Live your own life!

If you think your parents are so controlling then why do ask them for handouts? You are spoiled! Get out and earn your own money like the rest of us!

If you're going to ask them for their money, then be expected to be told what to do and how to do it.

If you want to break away from their influence and control, get yourself a job and pay your own way.

They can't use their money to control you if you do not accept, much less expect, any.

You don't need them, you can do it yourself. It will all mean more if you do it yourself.
