Wrong. American politics can completely turn in the Republicans favour by the time the 2008 presidential elections roll around. George Bush Sr. was at 92% popularity in the polls after the first Gulf War and still lost the election to Bill Clinton who was seen as a long shot when he entered the Democratic primaries. The only poll that matters is the election and no one can take anything for granted.

I hope to God (Please note: “my God” might not be the same as yours, but I’m cool with that…) that a real Independent can raise the money to put both major parties in the dirt in 08. Problem is, that’s not gonna happen.
We’ve gotten to the point in our country where NOBODY has a chance to win an election (even at a local level) without millions of dollars to “buy the vote”.
Bush Invented the Google, let us not forget about the “unreliable voting systems” in use around the country that reside is strategic locations. (I said nothing about Florida!)
It could happen!!!
A public orgy on Pennsylvania – oh wait! It has happened! In an IM format!

Almost, but not quite. It's still the independent middle-class voter that usually decides the Presidential election, and it looks like it'll be that way in 2008. If the Dems line up behind Hillary, I think the Repubs have a shot. A lot depends if Fred Thompson enters the race or not. That is one Republican that the independents can rally behind because he seems anti-Washington, and they love that.

Sometimes but then I get this image of middle class America, they look to the right and see who supports that candidate and look to the left and see who is behind that candidate. Sadly they are disgusted by both but they choose the better of two evils. And oddly this the "people have spoken" nonsense in the last election....yes there were some landslide reelection but the truth is that there were some real praying going on. It worked but the slim majority does not a mandate make for either party.

You'd be right if they were running against Bush again.
However there is a very diverse group of candidates vying for the GOP nomination; especially if Fred Thompson throws his hat into the ring as well. I like that Ron Paul is forcing some of the other more prominent candidates to explain themselves with more than just cliches and talking points.
Granted, the GOP has a lot of work and a lot of soul-searching to do. The rhetoric of the past six years isn't going to get it done this time, and they will need to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the issues concerning most Americans.

1) Bush is not running. How come whenever someone mentions the 2008 election, which is a year and a half away, President Bush is mentioned. He's not running!
2) It is way to early to see who might be a front runner, like I said, it's a year and a half away, too far to tell anything.

And the reason is: America has had enough of the corruption, lies, and embarrassment that came with his administration.
I just hope the Dems will run someone worthy of the office & who will actually try to change things, rather than whomever is popular.
I will waste my vote on an independent if Hillary gets the nod.
