Jackson isn't doing it (because of legal disputes over LotR, and because he's probably moved on to newer things), and Raimi probably won't either. New Line isn't even distributing, but rather MGM (I don't know if it's under Sony or not though.)

Both sides are playing hardball on this issue, so the lawyers are talking to one another.
Also NLC cannot go through with the movie, as the rights are tied up as well.
