Vermont is trying to pull out of the USA and become once again an independent republic. If Vermont does this then will other states follow? Should Vermont be prevented from breaking off with our government?

Vermont has every right to form an independant republic.
It would be really interesting to watch the process and see how it goes. There might be more states doing the same thing.I dont know where it would leave them secondary to upkeep of public roads, funding for schools, etc., but maybe they already have that figured out. Isnt that what started this country to begin with?

Didn't the Civil War prove anything.

An Ultra Liberal state is throwing a temper tantrum. Take away all the Federal Government's money for schools and roads, and the whiny babies will come crawling back. Or they will Join Canada, still not much of a loss.

I would worry more if Texas or California tried to get out. They could actually do this and be successful.

Vermont has the right idea. When the goverment no longer works for the people it's time for the people to speak. States pulling out of the union would be the first step to gaining control over our corrupt system.

Voting for Ron Paul will also help bring the power to the people.

Yes, and if they insist, GWB will send troops to Vermont and probably New Hampshire (just in case). Live free or die.

great idea, I need to get things moving here in Maine and hope NH follows suit so we can all join Canada together. No more insane rulers, no more marijuana prohibition.
