I've never really listened to country music much until a few months ago- I bought an Alan Jackson CD and absolutely love it. I would like to broaden my interest though and listen to other artists. If I like Alan Jackson's style, what else do you think I'd like?

I have to agree with most others that if Alan Jackson's style is what drawn to, that you would most likely enjoy Goerge Strait. Mr. Cool had some good suggestions also but was a little rude in calling everyone's choices "crap" If you enjoy it, you enjoy it and odds are you going to refer others to it.

Keeping along the lines of Alan Jackson, I would say you would most likely enjoy

George Strait
Dwight Yoakam
Blain Larsen
Blake Shelton
Brad Paisley
Brooks and Dunn are VERY GOOD
Craig Morgan
Garth Brooks
Gary Allen
Jimmy Buffett
Josh Turner
Kenny Chesney
Randy Travis
Tim McGraw
Toby Keith
Darryl Worley
Trace Adkins (lonely wont leave me alone is good)
Tracey Lawrence
Vince Gill

When you have time, I would suggest cross referencing peoples suggestions and going over to cmt.com; enter an artist name in the search and go to their page, scroll down to the video section and open the list of music videos and familiarize yourself with the artist and their music to see what happens to speak to you.

Everyone has their own preferences for their own reasons but I think those are good starts for you.

In as much as I am a Toby Keith fan, I dont think his last album held a candle to his previous works so I would go through his older videos to start. Of all the people I put on the list above, he probably fluctuates the most with regard with his style from funny, silly songs, good love ballads, and bus songs so you really have to sort through his.

Actually, I would not include Toby Keith style as similar to Alan Jackson, I just happen to like the guy...lol

Have fun and don't let others that have a tendency to lambast the newer generation of artists discourage you Musical preferences are always open to interpretation.

Okay, the ones "Coolhand" lists are more 'Bluegrass' or older country style singers. Alan Jackson does run more with the current country types.

My newest Country favorite is Brad Paisley (thank you "Snooky" for being the only other person to mention him!) He's great & funny & sentimental. You should try out his "Mud on the Tires" CD.
