I found out that I am a direct descendant, a 17th great-grandson, of Henry VIII's sister Margaret. So would he be, like my 17th great-uncle?

Well obviously the female line descendants includes Prince William. It is a tricky geneological question since I think the main line "Baron Hundson" did die out. You probably need to contact a professional like William Addams Reitwiesner. He may have more information on the illegitimate lines. ================= Of course, if you did get a negative result you wouldn't know where the illegitimacy occurred. It could be in the Henry Carey line. ================= From what I can see the last direct line male descendent of Harry Carey died in 1677, but maybe a more thorough search would turn up someone. ================= (1) Henry Carey, Baron HUNSDON 4 Mar 1525/1526 - 23 Jul 1596 (2) John Carey, 3rd Earl HUNSDON 1548- Apr 1617 (3) Henry Carey, 1st Earl of DOVER 1580- 13 Apr 1666 (4) John Carey, 2nd Earl of DOVER 1608 - 26 May 1677

Something like that. Would it be through James V/Mary/James VI or through Margaret Douglas?

(And obanlassie, Mary Rose was the younger Tudor sister. She was married to the King of France briefly, & when he died, she married her sweetheart, Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk. But then they stayed in England. Her granddaughter was Jane Grey. Margaret wed into Scotland--James IV; her granddaughter was Mary Queen of Scots, and her elder grandson Henry, Lord Darnley, who married Mary. Their son was James VI of Scotland & I of England.)
