Last night on Comedy Central, I was watching a show featuring comedian Larry The Cable Guy. I have seen him before and there is no doubt, he can fill a place and make everyone laugh, me included. Most of his humor has to do with toilet "poop" references, jokes or comments about his family and sex. Now if you took away the toilet and sex humor, would Larry's brand of humor survive? Who knows, but his timing and keeping the show going is an act in itself.

It seems that Larry's whole persona is a put on, including his deep "redneck" southern accent and his sleeveless shirts and jeans. I did a bit of research on him and his Cable Guy routine is all an act, not really him being his real self. Doesn't surprise me, he seems to have a formula for his success as a comedian.

If you have seen him, you know what I mean, I'm sure.

What is your opinion about Larry The Cable Guy's brand of humor?

I agree with you. I watched a bit of the new special last night on Comedy Central. My husband told me that he saw him on some TV program and that the "redneck" accent is an act, and that he's really from somewhere in the Midwest, not the south. My mouth dropped.

I had to lmao when he did the skit about the retarded gang. (I know, it's not very PC, but it was really funny.) And how he "doesn't do Pilates, but back in college he used to do Pull-out-ees". LMFAO

Git R Done, Larry! Go for yours!

I think Jeff Foxworthy is pretty funny, but Larry the Cable Guy makes me wanna hurl. Oh well, there are other similarly untalented celebrities out there who also became famous, so it's not like he's alone in that.

I think he's okay. I agree with you, though - if you took away the potty humor, there probably wouldn't be much substance there. But I think part of his appeal is his "act" (i.e. pretending to be a "redneck"). I think if he didn't keep up that front, he'd be no different than other comedians. On the other hand, there's really nothing extra special about his comedy, per se.

But he did start a catch phrase - "Git 'er done!" - so I guess that counts for something. LOL!

Cheers!! :)

He's hilarious...just a little too "blue" for my tastes. I actually think Engvall is funnier.
