I'm going to, like the title says, buy a good gaming computer for Christmas. But I don't know what is a good gaming computer. I want to play games like Medieval 2: Total War, so what are the ideal specs a computer should have to play it well? The system requirements only say what is needed, not what is ideal.

I don't want to have to buy Alienware computers, just something with better graphics that can play recent (or even last year's, because I like those games) games. My graphics card as it is now is ****.

I wouldn't start looking now. The computers out in November and December will be better than what is currently available. Second, find the top games in addition to the Medieval games you like, and look at their minimum requirements of the newest version. (Even if you are not looking at the newest version to purchase, the newest version will contain higher specs so you don't need to update again in the future.)

From the minimum requirements, you will be able to see the areas that you need power (most likely graphics cards, and processor power.) Then look to see what is available. If you don't want to build your own, look at companies that explain what is necessary on each computer, and as them for assistance.

Just keep three things in mind, lotta ram, lotta processing power, and a good graphics card.

Add 40% with the minimum requirement, you will get the ideal configuration (in most cases).

Hi. Personally, I would build one. Not hard and you can easily beat the speed of most 'pre-fabs'. And yes, I built mine.
