He wears bright, bright socks with sandals and it's so embarrassing! But I don't want to hurt his feelings.

but....
tell your mom so she can tell your dad something like
"honey it's warm out, do you really wanna wear socks?"
hope it works

Say something like "Dad, those sandals would look better without socks" or "You know, you don't have to wear socks with sandals". keep dropping hints but if he continues just let it go. His fashion sense is different from yours and most dads wear things that embarass their kids anyway.

"Hey Dad, I know you're just trying to keep with the trends, but I think you're a bit out of style. I know one major thing to help you would be if you wouldn't wear socks with your sandals, it's kind of funny looking, actually."

And some of us just like to embarrass our kids. NO, I do not wear socks with sandals, and my daughters have given up complaining about my fashion sense, but now my granddaughters are starting in on me.

Why is it your problem how he dresses? Stop being so critical and just be glad he's still around. My dad passed in 2004 and I would give anything to have him back. If he likes socks and sandals then I say, "Go dad!".

Oh honey just tell him, laugh about his bad taste !

My kids do it all the time to me, then i take a look at myself and "agree" that i dress "unfashionable" or let's just say "stupid" :)

As dad's get older they don't really care about how they look,
"only" if it's bad enough for the kids to say something about it, us dad's know we are getting older and "relax" about what we wear.

I don't think you will hurt his feelings, i just laugh at the way i dress sometimes also.

just laugh about it while you're telling him. like if he really thinks you are embarassed it will hurt his feeling more than if he think you just think it looks goofy and youre laughing at him because of it. but old people and weird ones especially (my parents included) wear weird **** and sometimes you just have to get over it.

Just say "Dad it would look hipper if you just wore regular sandels. You will get better color as well." Just say it in a nice way and i'm sure he wont mind. ( :
