Greek Men?

Can anyone tell me about Greek men. I'm a female American and I may study abroad in Thessaloniki or Athens so I was just curious...

Wow, thats a topic! :o)
Well. First of all, expect to be treated like fresh meat of the boat. Every guy in sight will try to pick you up whether they are waaaay too old, waaaay too young, or married! But dont take their advances too seriously. Political correctness hasnt really reached Greece, which is not a bad thing. I find apart from the whole "you have beautiful eyes thing' that they say what they mean, and I think most of them are extremely chivalrous.
But you have to be super clear about any relationships with men you stike up that you want to stay strictly as a frienship. I quickly realised that its very difficult to just go an have coffee with this guy or that without them thinking they are in a relationship with you or thinking that you'll eventually 'come around'. Make your intentions clear!
I find most of them very mature and have direction about what they want to do in their lives and who they are. I find them very grounded.

But this is based on my experiences living on an island, not in a city. And I have only had one relationship with a Greek man....who is now my husband! :o)

You are lucky, being from the States, there are Greeks everywhere, so you can see and estimate by yourself! Lucky also going to Thessaloniki, great city!

Just watch the movie "My Big Greek Orthodox Wedding" and you will have the answer about their character in general.
And when we speak about their physical look I can't tell that there are some really, really handsome Greeks.

Hello, Greek men are hot, they are independent (don't expect to be equal by picking up the tab anywhere--- huge insult), they seem to be more sexually ortinated, more liberated and never never never say anything bad about your mom or theirs. . . mothers are worshipped in Greek society.

Dear Leonarda, what's the position or rather the rights of American women? That they are legally equal but the majority of them gets abused by their husbands and never reports it?
We do have a much smaller percentage of physical and psychological abuses than the U.S.A.
On the other hand Greek and Italian men, yes, we are the best and more handsome in Europe

Greek men range from wonderful, handsome, caring, intelligent and cultured people (like my husband and my friends) to stupid phallocratic jerks who think they are great. As in the entire world. You just need to choose who you socialise with.

But why you ask about the men instead of asking about the city?Ok, i ll reply you.People everywhere have the same needs and feelings, it always depends on the persons.Certainly, the traditions in Greece are different, the woman doesnt have the position fo the american.But it depends on the people you deal.
Greeks are like all the mediterraneans,they differ from mitalians, they are more macho lets say with the woman..
But be careful always with whom you deal..They are attached to the family, and to the mum too..But generally, they are proud persons...
