Elvis is definitly the king, but after him came the Beatles. They probably had more influence on the world today. Even my 8 year old daughter can sing a Beatles song, but she doesn't know any Elvis. I still remember where I was when John was shot. He was nearly a god.

After thought: What about Jimmy Hendrix or Jim Morrison?

Elvis was great. So too were the Beatles and the Stones.
What about Bob Dylan? Alan Seeger?

His acting was always overshadowed by the singing. But he could act. And very well. Elvis As Pacer Burton in the movie Flaming Star, was fantastic.

Don't forget Bob Dylan :) Did you know Dylan wrote That's All Right Mama? Elvis Presleys first hit. Check it out! I wonder where would Jimi Hendrix be without Dylan too & so many more.

Elvis for sure. Although there are many technically better musicians, he was instrumental in bringing the races together-musically, that is. And also showed that blues, pop, country, and even gospel weren't mutually exclusive, by playing them all-very well!

Presely was the first for alot of things. He popularized black music and made it into white music. He was the first singer to make movies, a trend alot of rappers are doing. He was also the Marilyn Manson of his day, all the adults hated him because they thought he was evil and immoral or whatever they thought and he challenged the system with his hip shaking. So yeah, I agree with you
