Why is this?

If the cavs were in the western conference, lebron and the cavs would have a worse record than the Lakers

I think this is a double standard a lot of you say it's because Lebron "makes the team better", was it game 5/5 when Lebron had every shot except 1 or 2 in the 4th quarter, if Kobe did that everyone would have come down on him, Kobe can't win if he takes the game into his own hands he's a ball hog if he doesn't the scrubs the Lakers hired can't get it up and he still gets blamed...

Lebron has never been a ball hog not even in high school. Lebron is always looking to pass if that is what makes the most sense. It is all that passing that actually helped lead to his big scoring night. The Pistons couldn't just colapse on him(see game six for what happens when you try that.) so he was able to get a combo of good looks and some amazing shots. Even during the run he setup his teammates for 7 shots. They just missed them all.

I just checked the full play by play see link below. Looks like after the last point by someone other than Lebron the breakdown is as follows:

James 8 FTA 11 FGA
Team 7 FGA

Given the hot hand he had that seems reasonable to me.

I'm a big Cavs fan and I also love Kobe. You're right. LeBron & Kobe are different players though. Both only want to win. Kobe's game is to dominate the ball and take a lot of shots. He'll pass it too, but who does he have to pass it to? The have a little talent, but not much other than Kobe. LeBron is a pass first player, and only takes a mass quantity of shots when the situation calls for it. I think the biggest difference though and how they are viewed is due to public image of their attitude and personal life. LeBron has been humble, given credit to team mates and stayed out of trouble. The media will eventually get something to be negative about when it comes to LeBron. Kobe's image is tainted by the Shaq saga, the sexual assault case, and his style of play.

Personally, I think both are great, and when the Lakers pull it together, Kobe will get some more credit for how good he is. But until then, please don't drag LeBron through the mud. Oh yeah, say what you want about the Cavs if they were in the west, but you'll have nothing to say if they beat the Spurs, and they can. You should remember that when the Pistons beat your Lakers they were 8-1 underdogs... the cavs are only 5-1 dogs.

Good question though.

Kobe is by far a better player than Lebron. Offensively and defensively, Kobe is better. Lebron has a better image than Kobe. The NBA loves Lebron and he gets all kinds of positive media exposure. Kobe was accussed of raping a girl, but he was not charged (I'm pretty sure that in the American legal system you are innocent until proved guilty). Lebron is in a weaker conference so he achieves more success in the playoffs. The Cavs would have lost to any of the top 6 teams in the Western Conf playoffs. People love to hate Kobe and love Lebron.

lebron also averages about 6 assists a game, and he plays forward not point guard. And whenever lebron is a "ball hog" he is usually carrying his team on his back, and winning the game. kobe takes a lot of shots, but this is mainly because besides from lamar odom, he is the only player on the team that can put up big numbers.

I don't hate Kobe but I do think he's destroyed the Lakers as a team. I didn't realize they haven't won a playoff series since '04, did you? And At least when Lebron hogs the ball, he makes the shots.

Lebron was dissed when he didn't take the last shots of an earlier game. He was doing what he usually does, pass the ball to open players who should be making their shots. He has a pass first mentality. Lebron usually doesn't force his shots.
He took over in the 4th and the 2 OTs because he didn't want to hear the critics diss him for not taking the shots when it matters again. He didn't want to be labeled as "afraid to take the last shot". He just went out to prove he can step when he needs to. Now, he'll go back and play his "Magic" style ball.

i agree with the other person. When lebron is a ball hog it is because he has to be. he is the leader of the team and he takes over and leads them to victory. When Kobe does it he doesnt make the shots and he doesnt have to be a ball hog he is just showing off.

AMEN!!!
I love both guys on the court. I could care less if either one shot every shot for their team. I just hate it when I hear, "Kobe is such a ball hog", "Lebron is a team player".

Consider Bryant's performance in the Lakers' last game of the season, a first-round loss to Phoenix. He shot 13 for 33, with one assist and six turnovers.

when you shoot 39%, and have 1 assist to 6 turnovers,
that means you are below average in scoring and
you don't take care of the ball with 6 turnovers, and
you don't pass the ball with 1 assist.

You don't make your shot, you turn the ball over, and
you don't let your teammates get involved.

Championship basketball.
