Compounds that will be most soluable in octane are compounds that are nonploar. Types of compounds that should dissolve are hexane, heptane, pentane, etc.

Normal octane is nonpolar and many nonpolar and slightly polar materials will dissolve readily in normal octane.

If you had a list of solutes from which to choose, it may be able to be answered.
