Sure - don't be a defeatist, show the teacher that you'll still keep trying. Otherwise, you'll look like a quitter.

Yes, you should. If it's not required then you don't have to, but you will look like you really quit if you don't take the finals. For next your, try to look up some things on the internet about study tips for math class, there are some websites that are really helpful.
