As is usually the case, the team that wins the AL this year will be that team with the best pitching, and with the fewest injuries. That being said, it apears to this point that the Indians have the best chance of finishing atop the league, despite their poor play against Boston earlier in the season, and having been swept by the lowly Yankees. The Tribe have both the Tigers' and the Angels' numbers this year, so it looks to me that the Indians will face the Red Sox in the ALCS. Nobody wants to face Boston in October, with Wakefield's knuckler and Beckett and Schill's heat, but Cleveland, being younger yet experienced, will outlast Boston in a 7 game series.

Tigers. They are not a team of superstars. They are a team of great, grind it out, meat and potatoes kind of guys. Jim Leyland is the same way. When Rogers and Zumaya get back, the pitching is only going to get better. Bonderman was great last year with only 2 pitches, and he has added a third this year. It is only June. It will get better.
Look at A-Rod, great April, crappy May and June.
Maggs is having a great year at the plate and in RF. Sheff is finally starting to hit. Polly, is well, what can you say about him that is bad? Inges' bat is cool now, but he has more put outs than any other 3B in the AL. Grandy is tops in the league in putouts too. Pudge is Pudge. Cool and hot, hot and cool. Verlander is still strong. The Mayor at 1B needs to get the bat going more, but is not a liabillty in the field. What more can I say.
The Yanks and Boston will kill each other (even if the Bombers pull themselves out of it. Clev and MN are the only 2 the Tig's need to really be concerned about.
LAST YEAR WAS NOT A FLUKE!!!

The team that has more consistency and discipline in the American League is Boston so Boston is the sole candidate to win the AL Title! Cleveland has to many flaws in defense same as Detroit and Anaheim has inconsistency in offense and in defense sometimes they have good offense but bad defense and viceversa!

Boston, hands down has the best pitching, and would be my initial prediction, I have a hard time seeing Detroit repeating, and Cleveland has a lot of young inexperienced players, but you never know what happens in October, look at the Cardinals.

I would expect the Boston Red Sox to win the AL league this year. They have a pretty good pitching staff followed by a decent batting order.

Not Detroit - no team in recent history has lost the World Series and gone back the next year.
Boston seems the favorite - but how often does the best win. So I say Oakland.

Once they come back from injuries (Kenny Rogers, Joel Zumaya, Fernando Rodney, Brandon Inge, Carlos Guillen) the Tigers are going to surprise some people. They probably won't have the best regular season record, but they should be a force to be reckoned with once they get their pitching staff back to full strength. They'll excel come playoff time.
