you would have to consider the side effects of each affliction:

food:
what kind of vampire? in fiction there are various kinds, the two that are most prevalent are the one's who drain blood from their victims, and the one's who drain (life) energy. the blood sucking variety seems to have all sorts of problems (considering the example of Dracula of Bram Stoker fame), whatever afflicted the victim (alcohol, drug use, etc) will affect the vamp who drained it. there is also the problem of creating new vamps/competition with every bite. the life draining vamp can do it in diff ways, either it does it while giving the victim some degree of pleasure, or they simply rip it out and consume it. if they give the victim some degree of pleasure, then the ability to blend in with your surroundings and find prey is much better and easier. and since it's energy that is being consumed, if the prey is incapacitated by drink or drug, it shouldn't affect the vamp that is feeding.

a werewolf eats simple red meat when in wolf form as far as i know (although if they MUST consume humans and their organs, then feeding becomes more problematic). in which case feeding would be much easier than a vamp would find.

masking the lifestyle:
vamps are known to be somewhat reclusive, but when they do move around humanity, they blend in very well... if the sunlight doesn't kill them first. but in this day and age where cities don't stop when the sun goes down, it would be easy to elude detection, and since vamps are long lived, any money saved during their long lifetime could easily maintain a worry free lifestyle (that brought them in contact with their food).

a werewolf would find it a bit harder to deal with life depending on how often they turned Were. if it was a conscious thing, then they can choose when and were to change so that they don't harm others, if they change only when the moon is full, then they are restricted to move only to places where they can hide their change from outsiders. also if the werewolf was in control of his Were form, then how he acted while changed could make as versatile and as powerful as any vamp.

so who would i be? depends on who has more control over their form. if a Werewolf has complete control, then i'd rather be that since i wouldn't harm other humans. if not, then an energy vamp, since they blend in easier and seem to have fewer weaknesses than the blood drinking vamps.

Werewolf, because it's fun to be a wolf. You can run really fast and hunt your own meals (I don't mean humans, I mean small herbivores; cannibalism is not good). And you wouldn't grow "hair." Please, people, if there really is a difference between hair and fur, then wolves have fur. Plus, you don't have any really inconvenient weaknesses. Nothing that will mess up your life too much, anyway.

Vampires... ugh. As a werewolf you don't *have* to kill anyone. If you're clever or have a strong will, then no problem! But with vampires, you *have* to eat people. No way around it. And you're nocturnal, which messes up your schedule. And worst of all, a vampire is a parasite. A filthy little parasite. Energy vampires are a little different, but they still must have some kind of issue to go around stealing energy. That's the kind of person I would really love to strangle.

So, werewolf wins. No question.

Werewolf

A werewolf because I won't have to depend on a daily dose of blood to survive I can walk around in sunlight; and I can retreat where there are no people if I choose to. There's not a lot of silver bullets so that's not a worry. If I need to leave the area because I'm under suspicion, I don't have to drag a coffin and an idiot Renfield with me. My husband, if ever I find one, might prefer a big cuddly wolf in the bed than a cold dead stiff (he'd better, anyway!). And since I now have dentures, I think being a vampire would be really really difficult.

I would rather be a vampire than a werewolf because I don't want all of that body hair! Also, vampires get to live forever, as long as they don't get staked. If I was a vampire, I'd save all of my old junk, so in a 100 years it's worth a lot of money and I'll be rich.

a werewolf a vampire can only go out at night and he has to worry about fire crosses garlic silver he has to have some of his countrys dirt in his coffin beheading stakes through the heart to get into someones house they have to invite you in I would think it would be very limiting. Now a werewolf can change anytime anywhere he only has to worry about silver wolfs bane that's about it the only time he has to change is during the full moon so rent a hotel room for two nights and then you are sorted

Vampire. As I already look like a vampire I wouldn't have to worry about my looks changing drastically, I've always liked the idea of them, and I'd bet they're quicker at shaving than werewolves. XD just kidding about that last one, I know werewolves (supposedly) only change under the full moon.

I'd prefer a werewolf, because it's "only" one-three nights a month and I'm a sunshine fanatic.
