There are, undoubtedly, a decent number of women who have implantation bleeding.
But.
As already pointed out, the baby-crazy like to think it's their period. They also like to think the slightest twinge in their breasts, the briefest wave of nausea, etc, means pregnancy. I have no idea what the aversion to taking a test is, or even how one gets that broody, but.
And: it seems to be a convenient way to allay fears of miscarriage. I spotted at a bit over 7 weeks. "It could be implantation bleeding!" said no less than two doctors. At 7 weeks? Not bloody (har) likely. Things have been fine ever since. Apparently, they just needed some reassurring BS to tell me. If doctors are prone to doing that, you can see why it would be a big thing here: "I'm spotting! Am I miscarrying?" Oh, no -- it's _implantation bleeding_!

Wishful thinking on a mommy wanna be for the most part, I think. They want to believe the spotting is implantation and not onset of their periods.
Of course with 14 years personal experience with infertility I can understand their feeling of desperation. But no matter how much I wanted a child; I never ever once tried to believe for an instant that a spot of blood was implantation. Infertility is heartbreaking enough without having the added drama "implantation bleeding"

Out of 9 pregnancy's, yep 9. (lost 4) Not once did I have implantation bleeding. I just don't get the girls that freak out 2 or 3 days after sex, and want to know if they could be, I thought they taught this stuff in junior high health class, I know they did when I was in school, and that was..... a while ago ;)

I've never had implantation bleeding either, but a friend of mine did and was convinced it was her period. Difference between implantation bleeding and a period is obvious however. You will only spot a little not enough to fill a pad. And it typically will not go on for days.

I had never heard of it before either, until it happened to me. i thought i was just spotting, then i found out about it. Obviously some people DO get it, i am one of them.. and if people are asking about it, then they got it too!
BUT you are right that people should not RELY on it, since not everyone gets it. They should get a test done to see if they are!

just because you or anyone you know hasn't had implantation bleeding does NOT mean it doesnt happen, ever woman is different and maybe it is more common then you think. I know several women who have experienced it.

Ditto I agree!!!! I am preggers for the second time and NO BLEEDING from implantation. What annoys me the most is when girls/women ask when they should take a home pregnancy test!!!!!!!! I mean duh!! Save the money and wait until aunt flow is late if it even is!!! Have a nice day!!
