You know the kind I'm talking about. The books that you stay up until 4 in the morning, because you don't want to put it down. "gods in Alabama" was magnificent, and I finished it last night. I'm now open for suggestions.

'A SHORT HISTORY OF NEARLY EVERYTHING' by Bill Bryson..........fascinating...starts out with the 'big bang' and goes thru the history of a lot of different sciences. Earth is 4.5 billion years old and he gets into the history of science and the planet. Get a copy and you won't be able to put it down....and ....it may change your opinion in the 'global warming issue'.

"The History of Love" by Nicole Krauss. It's very touching. Requires some thinking. If you normally like Dan Brown or James Patterson type things( interesting but no literary masterpiece) then don't bother. It's beautifully written.

"The Wanderer" by Sharon Creech. It's really thin, but that author is the best. Magnificent writing. And "Chasing Redbird" was good, but I already read it like, a year ago. Tons of great books are by her.

I just finished "The Tenth Circle" by Jodi Picoult, and it was hard to put down. But the ones I remember that most had my constant attention was "The Stand" by Stephen King, and "The Davinci Code" by Dan Brown.

"Gods in Alabama" huh? I'll check it out; thanks!

You might not like this book (it's young adult/teen), but it is the best book I've read in the past few months. Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It is a memoir, mostly about her childhood. She lived a very tough life, but it is not actually a sad story. I would reccomend it to everyone, especially people dealing with overcoming hardships.
