I have 3 yr old named Grant. It's not super-common, but not so unique that people go "what's his name again?". Also, one syllable makes it easy to yell in a hurry when he's about to get into trouble. :)

If you wanted a traditional name then you could name him George, but go by Geo (pronounced G-O). Have a friend this way. Sounds young as a youth but appropriate as an adult or old man.
