I recently learned in health class about a disorder called Peyronie's disease, which is an irregular bend in the penis. My teacher says one of the causes is masturbation. Is this true?

Peyronie's disease causes an uncommon sexual dysfunction that results from a bent penis during erection. The disease is characterized by a hard, fibrous layer of scar tissue (plaque) that usually develops under the skin on the upper or lower side of the penis. When the penis is erect, the scar tissue pulls the affected area off at an angle, causing a curved penis.
Francois de la Peyronie, a French surgeon, first described Peyronie's disease in 1743. Because Peyronie's disease involves deformity of an erect penis and may impair sexual intercourse, doctors have historically classified the condition as a form of impotence, currently referred to as erectile dysfunction (ED). Sometimes Peyronie's disease improves without treatment, so your doctor may initially recommend a wait-and-see approach. Other options for treatment of Peyronie's disease involve nonsurgical and surgical approaches.
Strange your teacher affirmed that untrue fact because masturbation gets nothing to do with Peyronie's disease and on the contrary it even can impede a normal action.

Yes I do know what peyronie's disease is and what it's all about because I have it, and believe me it's not a funny matter, I had the nesbit procedure done twice and was unsuccessful both times I can only say thank God we had our children before I came down with it, my wife of 45 years now has to be nothing less than an angel, because it is a disease that has no cure and sex is simply out of the question, so to date the cause of it is really still unknown other than speculation by some Doctors, so all you have to do is Google search peyronie's disease and you will have all the info your friend needs. hope this helps.

This article doesn't list masturbation as a cause. Sounds like your teacher was trying to scare the guys.
