think about it, if there is an emergency in your home, anyone with you there could easily be involved as well. you need an outside contact who may not be involved but can make legal decisions for you if you are incapacitated.

Simple. They need an extra contact number in case something happens to you. They already have YOUR number, because they ask for that, too. So if something happens they can call your own residence first. If no one is there, however, they need someone else to call, right?

They want someone else to try to collect from, should your household stiff them on the bill.

A lot of times it is someone else to reach should you not pay the bill, or should you die!
