I was raised in Cary in the 60's & 70's & it was a GREAT place to grow up. However, since then there has been massive growth. It has congested roadways, TONS of snobs & wealthy (homeless people are not allowed to hang around). The cops will pull you over for stupid reasons. My daughter went to pre-k there in the early 90's & the little girls were already comparing "name brands" on their clothes. I've heard high schools are filled with snobs. Every time I shop in Cary now, there is such an ATTITUDE people have. I.E.; this town was built for ME. I don't think my sweet little town of youth will ever be the same. Cary won't be happy until they have a privacy fence going around the entire town! Restrictions on signs, flags, banners, etc. are everywhere. Don't get me wrong, there are some great people (my dad still lives there), but overall it has become a place I would NEVER raise my daughter. Good luck, you might look into Raleigh or Morrisville or Wake Forest. If I can "privately" get you my email address, I'd be more than happy to get you more info.
P.S. Ticks, snakes, spiders might still live in the woods, but development has pretty well gotten rid of them overall. No more habitat in the Cary area! And the politics are crappy!

I'm born and raised in North Carolina. First of all, Cary is about two hours away from me and it's all city. It seems like a very congested place considering it is beside the state's capital. Kids and old folks...they are every where you go. I'm not sure that I would want to raise any kids there. I'm not sure where you are from now, but the crime rate is fairly high. And I don't know how old you are, so I couldn't tell you about people your age. I think you should consider moving closer to the coast. And ticks...yes, I've had a few. Spiders...seen them, but haven't been bit. Same for snakes...see plenty. Hope this helps a slight bit and good luck!

I have lived in NC until I was 19, I have never been bitten by snakes ticks or spiders. I lived in Charlotte though. Charlotte was once a city where you would want to go to raise kids, but from what my friends tell me its not really like that anymore. A lot of people from up north have relocated there and the city has become horrible...not saying that northerners are bad, but the ones that came there..(some of them I should say) have helped the downfall of the city. There is really nothing good for kids to do there, unless all you want to do is shop and eat. The university area is nice, Concord..right out of charlotte is nice, matthews area is nice, I am no longer sure about Pineville. But I have no clue about Cary..heard of it..but all I heard was it was really boring.

Cary is just a lame boring suburb of Raleigh. That's all it ever has been, all it ever will be.
Raleigh is the more interesting city of that area with things to do. Nearby cities like Durham and Chapel Hill are also interesting and fun. But Cary? Yawn....

I lived in Cary. Our neighbors threatened to kill us because we asked them to keep the noise down at 2 am. The police came and did nothing while the guy was holding a gun. Never saw a tick, spider, or snake. I am sure they were around.

I stay in NC, and its relatively incredible. sunset sea coast, NC is a huge sea coast and if u bypass a sprint procedures right down to Calabash, bypass to Capt. Johns and that they've great crab legs(I had them!) Dont bypass to Capt. Nances, their nutrition is terrible now. My family individuals owns a sea coast homestead at sunset sea coast, and its incredible there! I additionally advise going to Chapel Hill, NC. Its homestead of the Tarheels&Duke, they have a terrific restaraunt called 501 Diner, and that they've great nutrition(Its the place the Tarheels eat!!) in addition they have Starbucks w/ wifi, and bagel place with wifi, the Carolina Baksetball Museum, and many different places! California has undesirable climate, NC has great climate!! Edit: NC isn't racist& its heat around Spring ruin till ur interior the mountains!! And confident, NC is thrilling!
