There is no set answer to that. A chapter needs to go until it is finished.

A sentance is a single idea. Several sentances which all share an idea are called a paragraph. groups of paragraphs that share the same idea are Chapters.

Just as every book needs a beginning, a middle and an end, so must a chapter. I know that seems very simple, but it's really quite complexed. the beginning is everything right up until the climax of the action - which might be a page after the first page ot three sentances before the end. or anywhere in between. You chapter should begin with an intro to the action that connects it with the previous paragraph, a middle which makes progress in the story and an ending that finishs the though of the paragraph but leads you into the next one.

There are some techniques - some books have every day a paragraph. Chapter one 1 June 15th Chapter 2 June 16th and so on.

Some people break it up in perspective.
Chapter one Jeremy's story, Chapter two _Liza's story.

Some people break chapters at a specific action - like a cliff hanger. ENd of Chapter one "Jerrold saw the doorknob turning ever so slight... Chapter two title The Visitor Arrives

writing short stories can teach you to feel for the Chapter breaks. Write your book as a series of interconnected short stories and you'll know where the breaks are. I'd also suggest and english grammer and creative writing course for you which will teach you these techniques through practical application.

Finally, there is no need to make them all the same. It is perfectly acceptable to write a fifty page chapter and then a 1 page chapter. In fact, if can sometimes add impact to the events to make a chapter brief.

Short answer - as long as it needs to be, or whenever you feel like starting a new one. Try to end each chapter with something that will make the reader want to turn the page and find out what happens next. Readers often stop reading at the end of a chapter, and if there's something unresolved at that point, the reader will want to come back later or keep reading. This helps to produce that "couldn't put it down" feeling that all authors want. FWIW, my chapters tend to be 2000-4000 words long. Depending on how many words per page you have, that's between 5 and 15 pages.

There are two distinct styles I've recently noticed when it comes to chapters. One style divides chapters into parcels of time. Usually, in a story, events are told over the course of a day, or a part of a day, or surround a fluid course of events. These tend to be longer chapters, in the range of 20 to 40 pages. However, there is another technique, which I am growing very fond of. Dan Brown uses it, as does Stephen King in his recent novels. Chapters are divided more into scenes, like the scene of a movie. One chapter may involve one character's progression through the story line. Then the next chapter may involve another event taking place at the same time, immediately afterward, or involving another character. These chapters can run up to a dozen pages, or just be a couple pages long. Simple reason for prefering this style: it is easy to find a stopping place in your reading!

A chapter usually covers a part of the story, and sometimes, part of a part of the story. A chapter should be as long as it takes to tell that part. Some might be relatively short and others long.

It depends on the size of the book.

If you write a book with 100 pages, you would divide it by 7 or 10 chapters.
If 10 pages, each chapter would have one or tow pages.

Or something like this.

According to various surveys, it's usually about eight pages long. One of Eoin Colfer's books has a chapter 62 pages long.

There is no hard and fast rule about this. It's up to the author to decide what portion of his/her work constitutes a chapter. If you can't figure that out for your own work, you may not be ready to write a book.

It depends. If the plot is really intriguing, I'd say 10 to 20 pages, the reader will hang on through the pages if the plot is that suspenseful.
