You can run a free test at http://www.crucial.com and find out what kind of RAM (memory) your computer needs. It will automatically test your system and tell you what you need and have in the computer (each slot).

You can get cheap memory at http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com

I love how the first two replies sent you to crucial.com, but didn't answer your question.

You want to put the memory from your hp to your gateway. The RAM in your gateway and the RAM in your hp are very similar. The only difference is the speed. (the gateway having PC133 and the hp having PC100) You can put the hp ones into the gateway, but your PC133 will slow down to the PC100 speed. There's not really a big difference.

I need more specs on both of your computers. How many slots are free on your gateway? How much RAM does your hp have, and in what configuration (2*128 etc.)

Last time I had to check for memory on a Gateway I was informed by Gateway that you HAVE to buy memory direct from them as the design on the system board is different from the norm. I will warn you they are twice as expensive as the regular stores.

You can run free tests of each pc on these two sites.

http://www.crucial.com
http://www.4allmemory.com

These tests will determine the type of memory each requires and you can compare memory from the two machines.
