I couldn't agree with you more. The spurs-piston 7 game series was a true classic.
If You Like Good Basketball, good team play, fundamentals, and championships, then you should like teams like the Spurs and Pistons. People who complain otherwise are just trying to find something negative to talk about. Those people think, dunks, crossovers, and superstars w/ huge egos define championship teams. This is the same reason why the US got their @ss handed to them in the national tournament, too many players willing to take horrible shots and no one willing to make a pass or D up.
People complain against the spurs/pistons, but how is it that a team is winning, but you don’t like the way they’re winning? To me that seems kind of dumb.
Just look at how many championships Tim Duncan has won, 3 and going for a 4th. That should tell you something.
Needless to say, the cavs don't stand a chance against the
spurs. Put the cavs in the west, and they would be a struggling 7 or 8 seed, I cant say they would be able to beat Denver, Utah, Phoenix, Dallas, or San Antonio, in a 7 game series.
Additionally, the Cavs had the easiest run through the playoffs then any team in the past ten years...They beat a Wizards team minus 2 all stars, a Nets team that was about 50% worse than previous Nets teams, and a pistons team that traded its defensive center for a stiff in Webber.
The de-facto finals was the spurs-suns series, the winner was already decided there. Cavs fans are in for a real shock when they face a quality team like the Spurs.

M23, come on. Youre contradicting yourself. You claim that its ridiculous to dislike a team for the way they are winning (which it is), yet apparently regard the cavs with disdain because of the star-centric way you percieve them to play.
If the cavs were as lebron-centric as you seem to think, they would be just another lakers, not even getting out of the first round.
2 years ago, i didnt root for the cavs. in my own words, i rooted for "the lebrons". You know what the result of "the lebrons" was? 42-40, no playoffs. now im cheering for the cavs, and we have 2 straight 50 win seasons (only a start) and a berth into the finals that never would have happened if lebron was the only guy who could play ball for the cavs.
this will be a series between two TEAMS, not 5 spurs vs lebron. it will come down to which team works better as a group. i havent followed the spurs this year. I suspect, by virtue of their history, and place in the finals, that they display excellent teamwork. I have followed the cavs, and witnessed some excellent team play.

Cleveland in 6. The Cavs shut down the Spurs just like they did going 2-0 in the regular season against them. While the Spurs are a better team in the playoffs than they are in the regular season the Cavs are a much better team than they were at the beginning of the season or even just a couple of weeks ago.

What made the Cavs good and a playoff contender was not their offense. As good as Lebron is, the rest of the Cavs offense sucks. Their shooters are streaky at best, and they have no one else to go to other than Lebron. Their defense on the other hand has really stepped up, which is how they beat New Jersey, and how they managed to throw Chauncey Billups off 3 of the 6 games they played. The Spurs are just the more solid team, especially on the inside. Tony Parker is faster with the ball than Billups, so I think Gibson is going to have a harder time guarding him, Duncan is bigger than both Webber and Wallace inside, no way Gooden or Ilgauskas will stop him, I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs swept it.
As to it being "more" exciting to watch, I'm not going to say it's not fun to watch Lebron make near impossible plays, but honestly, I think that having Detroit in the series would have been interesting, Detroit, playing at its best definitely would've given the Spurs a run for their money, and both teams being as efficient and solid as they are would have made the game interesting, you won't have the most exciting highlight reels but that's not really why we watch basketball, at least that's not why I do.

No not me that series would have been boring boring borin
Atleast you have 2 true superstars in this finals competition and arguably the best young player in the game. Yeah it might not e as competitive but no one thought cavs-pistons was going to go the way it did either. I think the spurs are going to win but I'm rooting for the Cavs could you imagined if lebron won wow

CAVS are gonna blow it. the spurs arent going to just watch lebron charge down the lane and dunk the f ing ball. Cavs got lucky. Pistons should be there. Pistons and Spurs 2004 rematch would be the best thing. To tell you the truth i wouldnt mind seeing phoenix or golden state against the pistons. Golden state has the best 3 point shooters in the league. But what can you do. Im pulling for the Spurs in the finals

I agree with you. I think Gregg Popovich is a much better defensive coach than Flip Saunders. I expect the Spurs will have a much better scheme to stop Lebron. Also the Spurs posses something that the Pistons do not and that is a player who can score consistently in the low post. Duncan will own Ilgauskas/Gooden/Varejao. The Pistons match up much better with the Spurs and I feel Cleveland will be quickly defeated. I think that 5 sounds like the right number of games. The Spurs will not be worried about winning at home, they are a veteran team who's been there before.

The Spurs/Cavs mathup is actually exciting and fun to watch. The Spurs are boring enough and if the Pistons made, talk about a major borefest. Cleveland's higher temp offense could make this interesteing, just take a look at what happend to Dallas

I agree that the Spurs are going to win but I wouldn't write off the Cavs too quickly. They're desperate to prove themselves and they won't be intimidated because of their wins over the Spurs during the regular season. I think it will go to six games and be a dogfight every step of the way.

Are you kidding? Boring? It is finally nice to see a new team in the Finals. Seeing the same teams every year is what is boring. GO CAVS!! They are the underdog and this is the time they win it all!! And there is NO WAY the spurs will GIVE the Cavs a win. The Cavs will win it on their own.
