The fans shouldn't be blowing in their faces. My kids would never be subjected to sleeping in a 78 degree bedroom. I ran fans in their rooms all summer & I just made sure it wasn't blowing on their upper extremities & faces. If a fan blows on their feet & legs, it will quickly cool them down. It's cruel to make your children sleep in that hot of a room. Your husband needs to get educated.

your husband is right and so are you... Yes your kids can get sick from just the fans because when your sleeping your body temperature drops because its not doing anything... If you have the fans running then you can give your kids the chills, this isn't the greatest thing because one your kids wont be getting as good of rest because there body's will be working through the night to keep them warm, and two when the body's working harder to keep them warm the rest of the body becomes more irritable to those germs... If its hard for your kids to go to sleep I suggest you let them go to sleep with the fans on, and when you and your husband go to sleep turn them off... As for you and your husband you are less likely to get sick, so if you want you can use the fan, but if you wake up in the middle of the night cold turn it off... but I would use it as an excuse to cuddle at night ;)

well your hubby is right dear ,the cool air blowing on them can make them chocked up......
however have you tried to put a window fan in the window blowing the hot air out ?
You can do it in both windows or have one blowing out and the other blowing in,so it can circulate the air .....
If you do choose to use this method then make sure the kids depending on the window the air is going to blow through,
rememeber to keep the window half way open .
this will enable the kids and you two to keep comfortable but not cold........If their is only one window per room and since you dont want them to become sick,
then have the window fan blowing out of your rm window and the cool air will blow into theirs ,so they can get some cool air but not blowing directly on them ....leave your doors open so the air can circulate good!
hope this helps !
Ps i know you were hoping you would be right and not your hubby ,but of course your main concern is for the kids or you wouldnt have written for advice!

Nope! I have been sleeping with a fan on in my room since I can remember. In all honesty, I get sick maybe....3 times a year (that includes colds). If he's worried about them getting sick tell him to sit in a pre-school or kindergarten class sometime..THAT will make you sick lol.

No sleeping with a fan on does does not make you sick and it does not make your joints ache or anything. You cannot get sick unless you come in contact with someone who is sick and spreads their germs on you.

No, it will not make you sick. I use a fan often during the warmer months. You can get sick if you get overheated for long though.
