Most of the ideas in his 'new frontier' weren't successful because he couldn't pass them through congress and of course he was also assassinated. One example was the Medical Care for Aged. However,he did manage to accomplish a few things like-
1)Raised the minimum wage - 1 dollar to 1.25
2)Area Redevelopment Act - extra money to tackle poverty
3)Housing Act - loans for inner-city redevelopment
4)Manpower Development and Training Act- 900 million dollars on public works.
5)Tax Cut.
6)Proposed civil rights bill.

He averted the Cuban Missile Crisis and instituted the Peace Corps, among many others. Tough to get a lot accomplished in so short a time (and when you're "busy" doing so many other things).

I remember him as a great leader, I heard him talk about people getting involved in helping their country, not taking as in today's welfare/food stamp fiasco. I remember him for the space program/NASA, and for the movement towards national exercise. We had at one time a 50 mile walk in many cities, millions participated. I also remember him for and through the efforts of Robert "Bobby" Kennedy, his Attorney General and brother, for the huge effort to root out the mafia crime organization. I remember him as the peoples' leader. And finally, under his watch, we all went down to school, the whole state and nation, to take the sugar cube with the medicine on it to stamp out polio.
