and please dont judge my writing. believe me the book in whole is original. but i cant seem to think of a job for the main character to have and the modeling thing was the only thing so far that i could think of where they would supply her with an apartment or something.

If you have never lived elsewhere other than in your small town consider discussing with friends, relatives, and associates some of the places they have lived. Go to an Atlas and study a selected city's map, concentrating on streets, parks, entertainment, and even population.
I once wrote a short story taking place in Laredo Junior--a small town outside Laredo, Texas. I used the Atlas to learn adjacent towns, having never lived in Laredo. I doubt that there is such a place as called Laredo Junior, Texas, but I invented it because my story was fiction.

I'd honestly suggest that you go over the possible options. If the girl gets a modelling offer, she could have gotten it nearly anywhere. A beauty pageant in a large (or small) town, walking down the street, travelling. Like suggested prior to my answer, I'd consider talking to people I know and where they've lived, and also going through models' biographies at any number of websites (wikipedia, yahoo search, etc) and where they've come from.
Hope that helps.

Try reading a few books about places such as big metropolitan cities or books about girls with big dreams but a small chance of getting there. Just do what one of the other people who posted here said - Make them move somewhere in the story. But also - If you have hard time coming up with ideas you should try considering writing about something easier.

Read a book about a model living in a small town, moving to L.A. and then back to the original small town. Then meeting a guy there and marrying him. Doesn't sound so original to me.
If you want advise about it, talk to friend's and family.

Hey, you're the author. It should be up to you. Just thinking of whether or not they get a modeling contract doesn't give you a whole plot. In fact, trying to start off with only that idea makes it harder to write.

try making a scrap book, get some old magazines and cut out your character, past the picture in a desired location making progress . express her earning potential with pictures you choose for her life style and I'm sure the character will come to life for you.

Probably somewhere you haven't been to, like in New York. I personally think it's fun thinking about what it would be like in a big city, or any environment that you are not in.
