sometimes the cd can be faulty, also you can only burn a cd once unless it e rewritable one, try another cd or get a cd/dvd head cleaner.

Some music has copy protection that only allows it to be copied to CD a limited number of times (typically 3 or 5).
In other cases the 'free' software that comes with a new PC turns out to be 'trial' editions that time out & have to be Registered (& paid for) after, typically, 30 days.
However if the msg. you get is 'insert blank disk' it does sound more like the CD/DVD Drive is broken ..

Two possibilities. This is an optical drive that uses a laser. It could be dirty. Try running a cd cleaner, they usually cost about $10.00. If that does not work the laser itself could be shot. Only solution is to replace the drive.

As well as the other answers above, it could be that the music you are trying to burn is in mp3 format.

Are you using CD-Rs or CD-RWs? CD-Rs won't let you record more onto the disk once you've closed it out.
