No, that is definitely okay to do.
I don't want to speculate, but that's very odd. At that point in a relationship, there should be no question that you can just swing by your partners house. If he/she was acting jumpy and uncomfortable, after 9 months of dating, I'd say something is definitely suspicious.

In the old days people stopped by unannounced all the time.. if you were in the area.. but these days with cell phones, etc we are all expected to pencil in an appointment...
If you have reason to stop by - stop by... who cares if it looks like you are checking up...
And if these two are truly committed and in love - and its not just lip service -- why would either one have a problem with the other coming over... at anytime....
Now that does not mean the one beieng visited has to drop everything - if they are busy or only have a minute - then say, sorry I cna not stay and chat I am in the middle of XYZ... but if theya re that close, they would probably know what is happening in each others lives and not be stopping by when the other has plans --- unless their is some kind of suspicion happening.. in which case, for sure stop by... lol

I think it is wrong. It is my pet peeve for people, boyfriend or not, to show up to my apartment uninvited. I'm always uncomfortable in that situation because in my head I'm thinking; I want you to leave. Go away!! Even if you are in the area, call first. It doesn't mean I want guests over. If my boyfriend did that, yeah, I'd think they were "checking up on me". It is like; I live on my own for a reason. I don't want people checking up on me. :)
If you're in a serious relationship, I wouldn't understand why your significant other would be jumpy. If you were dating for say a week, I'd understand because I'd be creaped out! If that person feels it should be questioned, ask. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

I think it's rude to show up at anyone's house unannounced. bf/gf or otherwise. The jumpy part sounds suspicious though.
But what if a bf showed up at his g/fs house w/out calling while she was waxing her legs or had a facial mask on or whatever? She'd freak right? So I think calling is better. I would ask why they were so jumpy though.

Honestly, if someone gets jumpy about an unannounced visit by a significant other, than there's probably call for alarm. That's what couples generally do. It should be a nice surprise.

I think it would be great to have a bf just show up...it would show that they are thinking of you and took time stop and how that they care about you. The only reason they someone wouldnt like it is if they are doing something that they should not be doing....or if there is something to hide.....

I believe it is poor manners to stop by anyone's house without calling first. That was just the way i was raised. I even call before visiting my parents or sister. It is an act of common courtesy. Don't read too much into their discomfort. Maybe they were embarrassed by their appearance or thought the house wasn't clean enough. Call next time.

It would be rude not to call first unless your hands were full of beer and KFC. Than its not rude. Don't kick the door but use your nose to ring the door bell and remember, youi're double parked!!

I would think the BF/GF would be happy that their SO came over for a visit. Their jumpiness would certainly raise suspicion in my mind. But, that's just me.
