Its been years since I had birds . I just got a free bird it has a bare head and its tail feathers came out when I put it in the cage. Its mean bites hard !!!!!! how do I stop that

When birds are upset they wil pull out thier own feathers. I picked up a couple books on Cockatiel at the book store, which help alot.
You need to build up trust between you and the bird. I have have Two Cockateils, both females. Food rewards is a wonderful tool in training your birds. It took over a year, but now my birds will eat treats from my hands. One loves to sit on my head.

well Aviod any Mates And Mirrors! when they have mates they tend to bite hard! and mirrors gives them the image that they have mates! sa for the feathers how big is the cage? if he has room to move around the feathers will Grow out and not fall off. and for the biting aviod any fingers in the cage and anything that will anger it. also if you want get a small spray bottle and add only water to it and when he trys to bit just spay his body. < but that is not somthing to just do do it lightly and nicely but the biggest thing is trust thats what will get you in in the end!
