You won't like this answer, the worst television programme doesn't exist.
Just because I am very discriminating in what I watch, it doesn't mean that what I choose not to watch is bad.
It is a case of personal taste, we all like different things.
People imagine if they don't appreciate some programme, then the programme is therefore poor quality.
I like Little Britain, that doesn't make me a worse person than you, just different.
Until the banker cheated on Deal or No Deal, I watched some of them, the cheating ruined the programme for me, because it introduced a random element which was against the probability element I enjoyed, others may have liked that programme. I am not better than them, just different.
If I was forced to choose,it would be those interactive quiz programmes where viewers are encouraged to ring an expensive phone number in the hope of having a go at answering on air. I do occasionally have these programmes on now, just to see how many people are ringing per minute, since ICSTIS forced them to reveal that information on the programme. But the fact that so many people are ringing, shows that lots of people like to take part in these shows, and some like winning the money.

Do we have to only pick one programme?
I have quite a few that I don't like (and therefore no longer watch):
EastEnders - The show started well (20-odd years ago), but now it's just regurgitated crap like every other soap on television. If the writers were to come up with something original I think that the producers/directors/cast/cameramen would keel over in shock! Actually, think that this counts for every soap on television - they are all pretty much one in the same.
Big Brother - it's a reality programme...I want to see real life I will look out of the window, or go into town. How on earth do people get addicted to watching people going about their everyday lives? I just don't get the appeal at all.
Greased Lightning/Joseph - sorry, but it's a popularity contest when voted for by the public. If you want class on stage then audition them by all means - even have it followed by the public, but to let them decide who is going to appear on stage when your show premieres...duh, think that is a route to disaster...how do you know that the person picked by the public hasn't been voted for because they are cute/look like the boy or girl friend/live down the road etc...

Reality shows like Big Brother, Any Dream will Do, Grease , The Apprentice boring load of money saving cr@p! The networks are getting too tight to spend on good entertaining contemporary drama and are only interested in profits!

Those Make your play/Glitterball/the Mint/any ring in phone competition show with a stupid tit jumping around in front of a board and you have to ring in a say the stupidly blatant codeword written on the board and win £3,000, but only for the next 3 minutes!

big brother. the book (1984, george orwell) was amazing. the concept was clever, but the show is in its seventh series now? it is almost single handedly responsible for the lauch of "reality" tv. to begin with no-one knew about the cameras (or so we believe), but now people COMPETE to get in, buying hoads of kit kats to get into a house, where they will make an utter prat of themselves.
thanx for reading lol

BB. It's dressed up as reality TV but it's just so far removed from reality that it couldn't be any more unreal, even if it tried. It's over-rated, over-done, over-subscribed and all over the world now.
