The biggest change I've seen from my childhood to now is that a lot more people work today. I'd say it was around the 60% mark then now it's like 90%. And they work a lot longer. I'm not sure if that has any bearing just noting a notable change. Whether the kids are braver today - well they certainly have more opportunities to have their say but I think that is a good thing. They can only be as 'brave' as society and parents allow them to be.

id say its how the parents bring them up . nothing to do with being brave, most kids find that if they go on and on about something long enough there parents give in. anything for an easy life . bingo they get what they wanted. and as for the parents well they should be ashamed of themself's. how is kids meant to learn the word no if there parents cant say it and stick to it.

I think alot of it is how the parents teach the kids, some parents give into their kids and the kids learn this over time and know it's only going to be sooner or later before the parents give them what they want.

Its not so much that they are braver, its just that alot of parents are more lenient and allow their kids to walk all over them.

This is only my opinion but, we are much more emotionally available to our children than our parents were to us. I didn't learn who my parents were as people until I was a parent myself. I have a 16 yr old who know exactly who I am and in turn how to push my buttons better than anyone.

I would rather have it this way, my kids don't fear us they challenge us and in there own way (age appropriate) understand us.

I do the look but it only is effective 2 out of 8 times. Usually with my toddler I have to go to him to correct him and threaten my daughter with no cell phone.

I know what she values and I try to control it.

Good luck and it is normal...........

I think so. Being a kid (13) I kind of notice that even my little sisters got it easier than I did! There's only 4 years' difference. I think it's because more moms become more "aware", or whatever, of how special their little kid is, so they spoil him/her, and be gentle because they want the kid to love them forever.
