Montezuma's Revenge is the colloquial term for any episodes of travelers' diarrhea or other sicknesses contracted by tourists visiting Mexico. The name humorously refers to Moctezuma II (1466-1520), the Tlatoani (ruler) of the Aztec civilization who was defeated by Hernán Cortés the Spanish conquistador.

^ Montezumas revenge (diarrhea) is what you get when you go to Mexico you can get it from eating some of the food and drinking the water.

When I went to Mexico I was told not to eat anything raw, like fruits and vegetables and be careful where you get your water, bottled was safe, at least in Cancun.

I made sure everything I ate was cooked and I was probably the only one who carried a flask of water from the hotel, their water was safe to drink and I'm happy to say Montezuma didn't get revenge on me.
