Well, some people, like me for instance, when looking for questions to answer will click on page seven or something instead of answering the most recent questions. Sometimes when I check out someone's profile page, I'll see a question still open which I want to answer.

I agree , after a day I usually have all the responses I'm going to get out of the question so I generally don't string them along more than a day now .

1) Sometime you might get a late answer from someone browsing through other people's answers or even your own questions;
2) Some people like to really thing about the answers so they can pick the best one fairly and, because this takes effort, they might put it off.
