You used the word "finishing" so it implies that you did not
1. Dig up the whole thing
2. Connect the plumbing
3. Connect the sewer lines
4. Connect the electricals (lights, heating, fan)

You need inspection when you create a bathroom from scratch.

When you have just finished (did the last part of ) a renovation ( walls, tiles, change lights, taps, counters) those are superficial changes and does not need an inspection.

Was ANY of it inspected? Normally, an addition with plumbing included has a "rough-in" inspection and a finish inspection. You didn't say how long after the addition was added that you sold the home. If it was right away, you may be responsible because it would look like you did the addition for selling purposes. The buyers should have had a Home Inspector look the property over before buying. As long as you did not "hide" any facts about the addition when selling, it is doubtful you will be held responsible but lawyers can sure twist things around. Good luck.

You have done the renovation part only then it does not need a home inspection. But the bathroom has to be inspected from the beginning.
