My daughter is learning about the wall street crash and i can't find anywhere that references it in childlike terms. i'm struggling to explain it to her and wondered if anyone had any clever ideas?

Lots of people put lots of money into sweets thinking that all children like them so there'll be a demand for a long long time. But then all the childrens teeth fell out and none of them could eat sweets anymore so the price of sweets came down and all the investors lost all their money because no children wanted to eat them anymore.

Tell her the analogies of a big balloon lifting a person high into the air. When the balloon burst, the person crashes down from that height.

Wall street was like a bubble and investors were like that person (s) who got into the balloon ride. A crash was inevitable and people get hurt.

Everyone speculated and made guesses and traded like mad... and then the economy couldn't handle all those guesses and speculations, and everyone lost a great deal from it. Waaaaay oversimplified and doesn't cover a lot of important things, but I have no idea how old your daughter is and what she can understand.
