One of my co-workers says she has always loved hospital food and sometimes goes to their cafeteria during her lunch hour. I used to think she was crazy, until I had to eat it after giving birth to my daughter (never had hospital food previously). I loved their food.... of course being in labor for 18 hours without being able to eat kinda makes you willing to eat anything....lol

It depends on the hospital. Some have excellent food & others make you wonder what the mess is that they're serving you. Personally I love hospital food cause the hospitals around here have some good stuff. When my mom was in one of our downtown ones (mentioned by Fred, it's BARNES Jewish btw) due to having surgery on a severely broken arm, they actually had a menu she could choose from...it was like being in a restaurant! She ended up getting like fettucine alfredo & stuff like that. I ended up in another local one about 3 years ago for a flu virus that got into my intestines & wreaked havoc (i'll save the details, don't worry). For the first 2 days I was only able to have broth, jello & popsicles (clear liquid diet) but they were goooood & then the 3rd day I was okay to have solid food & it was so good I woulda asked for a second helping if I were able to. I had a full-out breakfast....scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, bacon, etc. It was amazing......

I used to work for an asbestos removal company and we always had jobs at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis... and they had a very good cafeteria with lots of different food to choose from -- I always thought it was pretty good!!!

It's not that odd, I know people who do that. When I was in for a minor problem (no restrictions), I thought the food was pretty darned good. However if you're on a restricted diet when you're in, then it's the worst food ever.

As an employee of a hospital, our food is not so good, but the patients get the good stuff.

I like it at most of the hospitals I have been to. It's usually pretty cheap too.

It's o.k.-I hate being stuck in a hospital!-I felt like I was in prison, since I'm a "smoker", I felt I was being tortured, & without having insurance is worse!
