I was at a baseball game the other day. The proper respect is to stand up and remove caps and look at the flag.

This one couple started saying "blah-blah-blah" doing the whole thing and then gave the middle finger at the flag afterwards. Right next to them, must of been friends, they refused to remove the caps. Some people nudged them to remove them, but they were cursed at.

I say, regardless of opinion on issues., they should respect the country they live in and set an example of pride. I was appalled. What do you think and have you seen this at other events?

Because they're idiots.

They likely have no appreciation for the country in which they live.

They probably couldn't even read the written lyrics to our national anthem, let alone summarize what the words mean.

I think you're getting mixed up. Respecting one's country has little to do with respecting a national anthem. National anthems, just about anywhere, are very biassed and usually involve some sense of saying that "our" country is better than "yours". It's a macho thing, and machismo is a hazardous attitude.

People do not respect themselves or any part of what once was

I sympathize, but I think there are bigger probelms facing the world, to be honest.
