I have a 1906 dime I thought was a mercury but the profile is facing the opposite direction. It is silver I think and it clearly says one dime on the back and United tates of America on the front with the date of 1906. Thanks very much for any info at all :)

You have a Barber Dime, minted from 1892 and named after its designer and the Chief Engraver of the US Mint at that time, Charles Barber. It has the same alloy of 90% silver as its successor the Mercury Dime and the Seated Liberty Dime before it. Depending on the condition and mintmark(if any) on your dime, it could be worth $3 or less in worn condition, to around $6 in average circulated. The Mercury Dime design was only introduced in 1916 and struck till 1945.

You indeed have a barber dime named after Charles E. Barber chief engraver at the time. It is also called a Liberty Head dime. They were minted from 1892-1916. In 1906 the dime was minted at 4 mints. The mint mark if any, is on the reverse (wreath side) and it is at the bottom below the bow. The D, O, or S mint marked coins are worth more than the one without the mint mark (Philadelphia mint). The no mint mark 1906 is valued at $1.75 the goes up as grades gets higher to $16 in Extra Fine. The mint marked coins are worth more. Re-ask the question if coin is minted marked or see a coin dealer. The values given are about what a coin dealer would pay.

Dimes from that era were made of silver, so you might check with a reputable coin dealer for an estimate of its worth.
Good Luck!
