The first time I heard one on these wierdo bikes I wanted one. That noise is like the three riders of the Apocolypse arriving on mopeds. So what is the downside and what do I need to look out for if I buy one.

The "Water Buffalo" was Suzuki's tour de force in the 70's. That said you need to look for coolant leaks at the 3 head gaskets, yes each cylinder has it own head. All hoses need to be checked for sponginess. Something you may not be able to verify is rusted liners, cylinder sleeves, inside each of the 3 cylinders. The best one will be the most STOCK you can find. Expansion chambers did weigh less but rotted out faster than the 3 into 4 stock exhaust and the made a great deal of noise. The GT750 was intended for touring in its day.
I have ridden 2 stroke triples from Suzuki for many years and have help race prep the GT550 and GT500. If you want contact me at my yahoo addy and we can see if a smaller trip is what you need.

The main problem is parts availability.
Good luck finding any.

I've never ridden one.
Would that make your ten worst bikes list?
2 strokes rule!

They are big and heavy. I had one as a kid, I dumped big money (for me) in it. race ported 34mm mikuni spigot carbs k&Ns konis aluminum swingarm magnesium wheels race chambers/ skyway silencers etc etc. Sounded like 3 rm250s at once. Have fun.
