He's scared. He's at the top of the college game and he knows that college coaches always fail in the NBA. He's scared because he doesn't want to fail.

Not shocked. His agent has been shopping since before the NCAA Tournament began. Risky hire by the Magic because just because you are a great college coach does not mean you will even be a fair pro coach. Remember Rick Pitino or the ex-Florida Football coach, Steve Spurrier. They are back at Louisville and South Carolina, respectively. Horrible career move by Donovan, but money talks. Suppose he had to give it a go.

i wouldnt say that he is afraid. however, its like breaking up with a long time ex for a new hotter college model who you just met at the frat party vs the high school sweetheart of 6 yrs. Both has its benifits. I think it was all good until he had to go back to campus and pack his old things, call parents of the new recruits whom he PROMISED to look after like his own kids etc, etc. Have a meeting with his own players now. Emotion is a tricky beast. I will lose some respect for him bc a contract is a contract he didnt have to sign. he didnt have to take all the press conferences and the private jets and languish parties. Be a man and break up with the highschool girl or marry her dont just paly the two against each other and string them along.

I wouldn't say fear. Who the hell is scared of that kind of money. But in reality, look how Saban is being crushed throughout the state for leaving the Dolphins when things got rough. You think Donovan wants any part of that? don't think so. There's already a villain in Florida and Donovan wants no part of it.

Loyalty. Florida took a huge chance on him when he was very young and with little head coaching experience (Marshall University). Perhaps he is simply grateful and happy where he is.

he's not scared, after the bags of money got off his mind he realized what he was doing. look at his press conference when they ask him about leaving florida... you could pretty much tell that his heart was still in florida and he was really upset about leaving... money isn't everything.

He's afraid of failure. Which shouldn't be the case before the two national championships he was a loser. So not much would have changed.
