I thought I was a new ager. I am on a spiritual path that is more like Buddhism. But I read in a monthly “awaking the conscious” magazine, an article that disturbed me. This article was essentially an endorsement of abortion, euthanasia, and fetal experimentation. What the hell?! So how can one be a spiritual being while still endorsing baby killing? Please tell me this is just the distorted view of one troubled soul and not the attitude of the entire movement.

A spiritual journey is personal. If you feel these things are wrong then you feel these things are wrong. Anyone who claims to believe Buddist teaches couldn't be in favor of those things.

To be spiritual is to hold onto your own beliefs, morals, and faith. To be anything else is being a follower in a cult. You don't have to completely conform to an idea just because someone says so in a magazine, book, or television show. There are some troubled, crazy ideas out there of what a religious person should be, so it's important you find out who you are and stick to your own spirituality.

They aren't "endorsing" these issues. They're endorsing the freedom of "choice" to make their own decisions without the government dictating personal issues. Just because they endorse personal freedom doesn't necessarily mean that they would have an abortion or choose euthanasia. They simply don't want our government to make personal choices for them.

"how can one be a spiritual being while still endorsing baby killing"

You're taking the actions of the few and applying them to the whole.

Playing with that logic...

Hitler had a funny looking mustache, so anybody else who has a funny looking mustache must be as bad as Hitler.

A persons religious beliefs don't have to decide their political beliefs. I've known liberal and conservative Christians, Jews, athiests, etc., and New Agers aren't any different.

You will never be properly respresented if you align yourself or identify yourself with any group. Live your own path, believe in your own truths. You don't need a label to find your way.
